In Feb. 2007, Ol Doinyo Lengai's summit was characterized by the formation of a large collapse crater and the absense of visible activity. However, magma moving at shallow depths beneath the surface was clearly audible.

We decided to revisit Anak Krakatau in early July. Its activity of Anak Krakatau was still moderately strong, although individual explosions only occurred at intervals between 1-4 hrs. Generally, eruptions were more ash-rich than in November, these eruptions were rich in ash, with frequent small lightnings in the ash plumes that reached up to about 1 km height. (c)
